TASTING NOTE

The VORS version of Napoleón carries an average age of around forty years — a dramatic extension of the character established in the standard Napoleón, with four decades of additional patience applied to a wine that was already excellent in youth. Drawn from the oldest sections of the solera, bottled in half-bottles sealed with wax, it is one of the finest VORS Amontillados produced in Sanlúcar.

The nose is laden with caramelised pecans, beeswax, dark clove fruit, old leather and a thread of salinity that recalls the Manzanilla Pasada that once fed this solera. The palate is harmonious and extraordinarily complex, with lovely nervy acidity underpinning waves of nut, dried fruit and spice. The finish is very long, dry and savoury. It is a sherry so harmonious that critics have described it as almost criminal not to serve with food. A masterpiece of the Sanlúcar Amontillado tradition.
